The NBA is filled with tradition and memorable moments. Only a few of the teams that were established in the league were able to win multiple championships like the elite franchises do. Those elite franchises have consisted of great players, superb coaches and general managers. These franchises have made legends and provided wonderful results which elevated the sport into greater and newer levels. What are some of the successful franchises? Take a few minutes of your precious time to find out what these teams are.

• Boston Celtics. There are only a few sports teams that could parallel with the success of this NBA team. This is the franchise that just won their 17th title last year and has also produced the best players to have ever played in the league.

They have produced players like Larry Bird, Bob Cousy and Bill Russell. Their hunger for winning championships is what separates them from any other teams and franchises in the league. They are widely considered to be the best franchise in all sports in the US.

• Los Angeles Lakers. There are only a few teams that could rival the Celtics; one of those teams is the Lakers. They have won several championships and they have also produced the best players in the league. Their rivalry with the Celtics is classic specifically during the 1980s. It was a classic showdown of two of the best players in the league which was Bird for the Celtics and Johnson for the Lakers. Currently, they are also trying to win for another championship.

• Detroit Pistons. They might not have the number of championships that Boston and LA have; however, they are the most consistent franchise in the NBA. They have several playoff runs which are very remarkable and memorable. They have the physical and defensive mentality which makes them unbeatable at times; it is because of this that they were often labeled as the Bad boys during the 80s. Currently, they are still a formidable team because of the traditions.

• Chicago Bulls. There is one vital reason why this team is considered to be one of the most successful franchises in the NBA and that is Michael Jordan. This player has changed the phase and ways of the game.

He is regarded as the best player to have ever played the game. He has led his team to six championships in eight years and he has made the Bulls one of the most successful franchises ever established in the NBA. Currently, the franchise is rebuilding around young talents specifically Derrick Rose and Loul Deng.

• New York Knicks. This franchise might be different than the other teams on this list when it comes to winning championships; however, this franchise is currently the most valuable franchise in the US according to Forbes magazine. No team or franchise is as rich and expensive as the NYK.

• San Antonio Spurs. They have won several championships and they have been consistent in the playoffs. Both the Spurs and Lakers are the teams that have been dominating in the post-Jordan era; however, the Spurs is the most consistent team in this era.
