Perhaps in all of NBA history, there are two teams that really stand out above all the rest. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are arguably the two teams in the league with the longest running rivalry ever. Many basketball legends like Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Kabbar, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, and many other players out there have all come from these very two teams. And to see this rivalry relived once again is truly a wonderful sight to see. There's a lot of history between these two teams and it's about time that the Boston Celtics get back on top and make the people who once wore this uniform proud. Congratulations to the Boston Celtics for winning the NBA Finals and a job well done to the Los Angeles Lakers for having come this far in the season. 1. Who would've thought that the Celtics could take this season by storm? In the earlier season, the Boston Celtics, even with Paul Pierce leading the way had the worst record in the NBA. It's quite a stunning turn of events to see them develop into a powerhouse today. Over the course of one season, Paul Pierce, along with the help of veteran superstars Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen have finally reclaimed the championship after more than a decade of having been eluded by it. These three, the Big Three as many would refer to them, have also had wanted to win the championship for quite a while now. Individually, Pierce, Garnett, and Allen are indeed superstars in their own right. But they didn't have the team nor did they have enough resolve from their teammates to go get the championship. But now that they have been brought together into one team, perhaps even their presence alone has inspired the rest of their team to strive harder, play better and of course to win that championship. 2. The 6 games that decided it all There's nobody that fought harder during these past 6 games other than each of the team's superstars; their go-to guys, those who make the big shots when it is most needed. Kobe Bryant has had a superb season and a terrific post-season. Perhaps in another time or if they had another chance, the Lakers would have been as capable enough as the Celtics to clinch the title. We suppose that after all has been done it all comes down on who wants to win the championship more. Neither of Boston's big three has won the title during the whole time that they have been playing in the NBA. Perhaps this is one driving factor that has led them to play their hearts out. If you look at it based on talent alone, you could say that both teams were quite evenly matched. Even their second units were all capable individuals. If you'd ask as to where the Lakers had gone wrong, you couldn't come to us with an answer. Nobody played wrong or not as good enough as they should have. They all played like champions out there on the court and the two teams both deserve the championship. It's just bittersweet that there can only be one champion. Next season should be quite interesting. |
